Haflingers were bred in Italy and Austria; their precise origin is unknown. This mountainous region dwelling breed used to be used in forestry and agriculture as well as transportation. Nowadays these horses are popular mounts amongst adults in dressage and other competitions. Measuring 1.30 to 1.50 m in height, these horses exhibit controlled and balanced energy in all their movements. The most attractive and adaptable European breed, Haflingers are a successful combination of other breeds.
